About
ABOUT JOIN IN MUSIC:

Lancashire based Join in Music brings interactive music workshops to school children from Nursery to age 13 across a wide area of the north of England. Join in Music aims to raise the profile of music in your school, delivering a concert to parents, pupils and staff within just one or two days. You may also be looking for activities for Gifted and Talented pupils, or organising an Arts Week, Saturday Club or Holiday School – Join in Music can help here too. We aim to bring learning to life through music by giving all participants a hands-on, creative and inclusive learning-based experience, with performance as the goal of every workshop.

MISSION STATEMENT:

Join In Music enjoys bringing learning to life through performance.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do the school staff need to do any preparation before the day?
Nothing except to organise the spaces needed, and plan a timetable if taster sessions are booked.

How much space is needed?
This depends on how many children are involved.  Usually the school hall is ideal, and sometimes we use classrooms as well.

What equipment is needed?
For the history workshops, a whiteboard and projector in the teaching space for the day.  Nothing is needed for the music workshops.

Will the school staff need to do any teaching on the day?
They may be asked to supervise an activity, for which full instructions and resources will be provided.

How many children can be involved in the workshop?
For a full 1 or 2 days:  up to 90 for the history workshops, 34 for the music workshops.  For taster sessions of the music workshops: up to 150 per day

How much flexibility is there if I want something different?
Emma can accommodate most requests – please get in contact and talk through your ideas.

Who could come to the concert?
Other pupils and staff, and the parents of the children involved.

Do the workshops last for 1 or 2 days?
Music workshops are usually 1 day with a concert at the end of the day.

History workshops are ideally 2 days with a concert at the end of the second day. They can be booked for 1 day.

Can we expect a concert after a 1 day history workshop?
We usually have an informal ‘sing-through’ of the songs we have learned, for other staff and pupils.

Can we invite a newspaper photographer on the day?
Yes - this is a great way of gaining positive publicity for the school.

Can I book Join in Music for an Arts or Creative Week?
Yes – contact Emma for special price deals for more than 2 days.
