TUNE IN workshopAIM: To perform a range of tunes, in 2 or more parts, on tuned percussion. |
||||||||||||
A great way to get children playing 'real' tunes on tuned percussion instruments (provided FREE), developing their performance, pitch, rhythm and listening skills in a very enjoyable way. The group are taught how to play the instruments correctly, and enjoy learning to play several simple but familiar and effective tunes. They work in groups to learn the different parts, then fit these together to create a finished piece. The group will practice and improve their playing. Some pieces may be recorded and listened to, allowing pupils to evaluate their performance. The tunes will be performed as a concert for the school and parents, who love to hear the fantastic work the children have produced in just one day. |

Organisation of the dayThe group will work together for the day, learning how to play together, how to read the special 'Join in Music' music and learning how to introduce each piece for the concert. The concert will take place at the end of the day, starting 30 minutes before the end of the school day. Parents and other classes in the school will be invited to attend. Actual timings of the day will be adjusted to fit in with your normal school day. Please contact Join in Music with any questions or other adaptations you would like to make. |

FlexibilityIf you have groups with specific requirements (e.g. Gifted and Talented, Special Needs, longer projects or Holiday Clubs), please contact Emma to discuss these. All of the workshops listed are given in outline only, so that they can be adapted as much as necessary for the audience and time available. Alternative ideas can also be incorporated. |

CRB checks and supervision of pupilsEmma Sykes has a current CRB certificate, which can be seen on the day. However, she would not expect to be on her own with children at any point, as adults from each school are needed to supervise their children at all times. Emma needs to ensure that instruments and equipment are used safely and appropriately. |
