Aims
A full class set of glockenspiels is supplied FREE by Join in Music for this workshop.
We start by learning to play notes on the glockenspiels correctly, making a good quality sound and playing in time as a group. During the workshop we have time to learn several pieces, reading from easy-to-follow coloured notation especially created by ‘Join in Music’. The children will also learn to play an accompaniment for each tune, which they find simple and satisfying to perform.
By the end of the day the children are ready and excited to perform in a short concert for the rest of the school and their parents.
‘Tune In’ is based on British songs, and also includes a great piece in which the children play the accompaniment to a popular song on CD.
For ‘Chinese Tune In’ the children will be supported to create and perform a Chinese style piece themselves, as well as learning and playing a range of oriental tunes and accompaniments written by ‘Join in Music’.
